Idaho Business for the Outdoors will be gathering and sharing baseline data on water quality on the Boise River: Source to Snake. We will also be hosting community engagement events, and leading water workshops for high school students from Idaho City, Mountain Home, Boise, Caldwell, Eagle and Parma. Workshops will be inspired by the Clean Water Act and facilitated with our community partners along the river to help support fishable, swimmable and drinkable water all along the Boise River.
Students will head to the river for day long STREAM workshops aimed at empowering students as citizen scientists and water managers. Using the Water Quality Index, students will participate in seven different water quality tests as teams and compare their results with water tests collected by a College of Idaho student team. Students will also have the opportunity to be industry leaders and water stakeholders, making the case for their water needs along the Boise River. They will be challenged to explore the complexities of water use and management by a diverse set of stakeholders.
Swain will visit student workshops, share his updates on the river and get kids engaged as stewards of Idaho’s waterways. He will also conduct stakeholder interviews all along the river with community leaders, farmers, miners, ranchers, land owners, students, and river recreationists which will be shared on our mobile app, Boise River: Source to Snake.
