Board of Directors Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Idaho Business for the Outdoors’ Board of Directors deliberately seeks to ensure a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible board environment. We strive to create a place where all directors and participants of any gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, education or background are valued and respected. We aspire to create a sense of belonging because we believe belonging exists at the intersection of diversity, equity and inclusion. We believe this intersection is where the full potential of each director is engaged, where innovation thrives, and where views, beliefs and values are integrated. We are committed to building a practice around social justice and accessibility that is continuously reflective, self-critical, and institutionalized, and built upon the foundation of respect and empathy within a safe environment.

Skylar Jett, Executive Director

Skylar Jett is a 4th generation Idahoan born and raised in Mountain Home, Idaho. She grew up fly fishing with her grandma on the South Fork of the Boise River and exploring the Sawtooth Mountains, from their cabin in Atlanta, Idaho. A graduate of Boise State University, Skylar received her Bachelor’s degrees in International Business and Spanish and minored in Economics and Latin American Studies.

Previous to joining Idaho Business for the Outdoors, her career was in the public sector promoting Idaho food and agriculture domestically and internationally. During that time, she successfully organized trade missions in Southeast Asia, Latin America and Canada. She hosted buying delegations and coordinated large promotional events. After transitioning to domestic marketing, she managed the Idaho Preferred program, connecting Idaho food producers with retailers, restaurants, schools, and other suppliers.

Working closely with Idaho farmers, ranchers, and producers has given her the opportunity to travel all around the state, building business relationships and strengthening her appreciation for Idaho’s greatest assets, its land and waters. Skylar brings her experience and love of the outdoors, Idaho’s food producers, and a desire to connect with businesses across sectors to better support Idaho’s outdoors, to her new role as Executive Director.

Operations Specialist

Anna Naylor, Operations Specialist

Anna was born and raised in Teton Valley, Idaho, where she grew up fly fishing, camping, and hiking. She received her BA in English with an emphasis in Professional Writing at University of Idaho. After leaving Moscow, she traveled all around Central and South America, teaching English, taking Spanish lessons, and exploring the outdoors. Her time abroad taught her the importance of communication and language, so after a five-year break, she made the decision to go to graduate school at Boise State University.

She is currently pursuing an MA in Technical Communication, with the intention of learning the intricate skills of written and verbal communication, grant writing, program and project building, ethical research, and team collaboration, with the goal of applying these skills to working with nonprofits and fighting for conservation and public lands.

Her dedication to the outdoors surpasses a surface level interest; she is devoted to making outdoor recreation more accessible to everyone in order to get more people involved in protecting our public lands so we can collectively restore the environment. She is excited to apply her love for communication, writing, and the outdoors to her new position as Operations Specialist.
