Speakers will cover the value of providing a voice for all sectors in the industry, the idea of a patchwork of public and private lands across Idaho, and the importance of food locally, nationally, and globally.
The panelist include individuals who are innovative ranchers and farmers, who are going above and beyond the status quo to ensure the land, water, and air in which they depend gets regenerated for all. November 17th
11:30am-12:30pm
Join Idaho Business for the Outdoors for a special screening of OTHER SIDE OF THE HILL followed by a post discussion with Eric Winford with the Rangeland Center. This film explores the impacts of a changing climate in rural Eastern Oregon- as seen through the eyes of local leaders on the ground. From innovative timber operations to large scale solar, our film amplifies the voices of rural communities often left unheard, and shines a light on stories of progress and hope. In a time of perceived cultural divide between rural and urban, left and right, young and old, we discover common ground in an urgency to address a changing landscape.
Running Time is 30 minutes.
Join us after for a post discussion with Eric Winford.
Eric Winford works as the Associate Director of the University of Idaho Rangeland Center. The Center works with faculty and extension specialists at the university to use science to find long-term solutions for managing Idaho’s rangelands. As an interdisciplinary group of researchers and educators, the work of Center members stretches across academic disciplines and includes experts in livestock nutrition, wildlife habitat, wildland fire, invasive species management, and more.
As Associate Director, Eric manages the operations of the Center and builds teams to conduct research and outreach. Current projects include discovering the source of E. coli in Mink Creek, riparian restoration using beavers and beaver-related restoration tools, dormant-season grazing to control invasive grasses, the Idaho Climate-Economy Impact Assessment, and additional work at the University’s Rinker Rock Creek Ranch. Originally from Tennessee, Eric has spent the last twenty years living, working and appreciating the landscapes and people of the Western US. Previously, he worked for the Washington Department of Natural Resources, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, and the Nevada-Tahoe Conservation District.

The Idaho Outdoor Challenge is being held on the WIWA app designed to encourage, capture and track ACTIONS. ACTIONS are a series of simple things we can all do, and then post, to share and help track actions taken. Actions are sponsored by local businesses, civic, or institutional leaders of Idaho. Bring your community together in support of the outdoors by sponsoring one of the actions below. Encourage everyone in your business to take at least one ACTION.
