Since 1994, the fourth Saturday in September has been known as National Public Lands Day. It’s a day to celebrate public lands and bring together volunteers across the country to help restore and take care of these beloved outdoor spaces.
Public lands aren’t just national parks and monuments. They include vital wildlife refuges, forests, grasslands, lakes, and reservoirs, as well as parks that are managed by local counties and cities for the community to enjoy.
In 2024, over 9,000 volunteers across the nation participated in volunteer events on National Public Lands Day hosted by the Bureau of Land Management across 132 events - more than any other federal agency!
Bogus Basin is hosting their second annual National Public Lands Day event this Saturday, September 27th from 10AM to 4PM. Visit https://bogusbasin.org/event/national-public-lands-day-celebration/ to learn more.
